The women’s tennis team plays two North Carolina teams on back-to-back days Saturday and Sunday on the road.

The Lady Mocs travel to High Point, N.C., for a Saturday match with the High Point Panthers then face Southern Conference-rival UNC Greensboro Sunday at noon in Greensboro.

Chattanooga, 7-8 overall, will shoot for its third consecutive win Saturday after victories over Kennesaw State and Austin Peay State last week.

High Point brings a 4-8 record into Saturday’s match, including two losses this week, at Winthrop and at Radford.  The Panthers’ roster includes only one senior, Iris Schabetsberger of Austria, and only one American, Jody Wicks of Alexandria, Va.

UNCG, 5-2 winners in Chattanooga last year, are 5-7 overall with a 2-1 SoCon record.  The Spartans have won three of their last four matches including victories over Georgia Southern, Charlotte, and Appalachian State.

A competitive battle will take place at No. 1 singles Sunday as the Spartans will likely send top player Alejandra Guerra against Chattanooga’s Lindsey Ballard.  Guerra has won nine straight matches and is 10-2 at the top singles position.  Ballard is 9-6 at No. 1 and has claimed three of her last four singles matches.
