The women’s tennis team hits the road this weekend for two matches in the State of North Carolina.  The Lady Mocs will face UNC Asheville Saturday in a non-conference match and take on Southern Conference rival Western Carolina Sunday.

Chattanooga, 7-10 and 1-6 in the SoCon, will try to rebound from a two-match slide against SoCon teams UNC Greensboro and Wofford.

The Lady Mocs have three more regular-season matches before beginning play at the SoCon Championships April 17-20 in Charleston, S.C.

The UNC Asheville Bulldogs are 6-6 heading into Saturday’s match.  They have won three of their last five and notched a victory over Western Carolina earlier in the schedule.

UNCA features a set of freshmen triplets from San Diego, Calif., Louise, Nicole and Stephanie Schon.

Western Carolina is 3-12 on the year after a five match losing skid.  The Catamounts, 0-5 within the league, notched their three victories in succession prior to the current five-match streak.

Chattanooga defeated the Catamounts, 5-2 last season in a home match April 12.

Senior Lindsey Ballard continues to lead the Lady Mocs in singles victories with an 11-6 record at the No. 1 position.  Fellow senior Bonnie Adams and freshmen Annie Green and Grace Robinette are all tied for second with six wins apiece.

Saturday’s match in Asheville, N.C., begins at 2 p.m., while Sunday’s match starts at 11 a.m. in Cullowhee, N.C.
