The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team posted an impressive 6-1 win over visiting Wofford today.  The Lady Mocs improve to 7-6 overall and pick up an important Southern Conference win to up their league record to 3-1.  Wofford drops to 10-8 and 2-2 in the SoCon race.

Rain soaked the Scenic City today, forcing the match to the indoor courts at the Manker Patten Tennis Center on the banks of the Tennessee River.  The Lady Mocs got off to a good start, grabbing the opening doubles point with wins in two of the first three matches.

Junior Charlotte Bossy (Koekelare, Belgium) and Diana Zora (Barrancabermeja, Columbia) improved to 2-0 as a duo with an 8-3 win at No. 3.   Junior Shaina Singh (Vancouver, B.C.) and sophomore Jenna Nurik (Roswell, Ga.) won their seventh-straight doubles match with an 8-3 win at No. 2.

Chattanooga kept that momentum going by winning the first set in each of the six singles matches.  Bossy, who turned 21 today, gave herself a big birthday present with a (6-1, 6-2) win over Lucy Schermerhorn at No. 5.  It was her second win in a row as she improved to 5-2 in the five slot.

Nurik put the Lady Mocs up 3-0 with a (6-4, 6-2) win over Emilia Milovanovic at No. 1.  It was Nurik's third win in a row, improving to 13-10 on the year.

Freshman Alexa Flynn (Memphis, Tenn.) clinched the win with a (6-2, 6-2) win over Haley Baird at No. 2.  Flynn leads the team with a 14-7 overall record this season.  Singh and Zora also won their singles matches at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.

"I was very proud of the team," stated head coach Jeff Clark.  "We played really solid in all three doubles positions and all six singles matches.  Jenna Nurik played very well in both singles and doubles.  Shaina Singh fought really hard in her match to get a three-set win.  Hopefully we can keep this train rolling."

The Lady Mocs are back on the court on Sunday, March 27, when they host Furman.  First-serve is set for 1:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.  Live scoring will be available on GoMocs.com.
