The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis has a pair of matches on the menu this week.  The Lady Mocs step out of conference to travel to Birmingham, Ala., and face UAB on Thursday, April 7.  Chattanooga returns home to host Davidson on Sunday, April 10.

The match with the Blazers is set for 1:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) at the Lakeshore Tennis Center in Birmingham, Ala.  UAB is 6-10 on the year and looking to snap a three-match slide.  Jenny Cape leads the team with an 11-4 mark, playing the No. 4 and No. 5 spots.  Evelien Strijker is 10-5 at No. 2.  UTC lost to the Blazers 4-3 in Chattanooga last season.

UTC is currently 9-8 overall and 4-3 in Southern Conference action.  With four matches left, the Lady Mocs can wrap up a winning season for the first time since going 13-10 in 2003 with two wins this week.  Chattanooga's four SoCon wins are the most since posting a 6-4 mark in 2004.

UTC is tied for fourth in the SoCon race with Samford.  The top-5 seeds get a bye in the 2011 SoCon Tournament hosted by Chattanooga at the Champions Club on April 20-23.  The Bulldogs and Lady Mocs hold a 1/2-game lead over Elon for the final bye.

Sophomore Jenna Nurik (Roswell, Ga.), the 2010 SoCon Freshman of the Year, is 9-8 in spring action at the top spot.  She is also one of three Lady Mocs in double-figures with a 14-13 record on the year.  Freshman Alexa Flynn (Memphis, Tenn.) leads the team with a 16-9 singles mark.

Junior Shaina Singh (Vancouver, B.C.) is the third Lady Moc with 10 wins.  She has won five of her last six and is now 15-12.  Junior Emily Hangstefer (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) is 5-7 at No. 3 while fellow junior Charlotte Bossy (Koekelare, Belgium) is 7-4 at No. 5.  Freshman Diana Zora (Barrancabermeja, Colombia) has been in the lineup the last three weeks and is 3-6 in dual matches.

Nurik and Singh make up UTC's top doubles team.  They have won five of their last six matches and are 12-4 in the spring, 17-6 overall.

The Lady Mocs welcome Davidson to the UTC Tennis Courts for a 12:00 p.m. match on Sunday.  The Wildcats are currently 4-14 overall and 0-4 in the SoCon.  Chattanooga is looking to avenge a 6-1 loss at Davidson last season.  Brites Moniz-Soares leads the team with a 6-10 record in singles play.  She pairs with Alison Rauh for the Wildcats' top doubles tandem at 6-7.
