Coots opened with a (6-2, 6-2) win over Georgia Southern's Caitlin Kitchen. She followed that up with a (6-3, 6-3) win over Kennesaw State's Tess Lagerkvist to advance to tomorrow's finals. She will face Auburn's Ashley Kitchen in the championship match.
"Kelsey had a good start to her career," stated UTC head coach Jeff Clark. "She posted two good wins and is playing for a championship."
Chadwell and Jones opened doubles action with an 8-4 win over Northwestern State's Tatiana Larina and Andrea Nedorostova in the Flight 1 Doubles. They will face Kennesaw State's Alex Apostu and Virginie Stein in the semifinals tomorrow.
"It was a long hot day," added Clark. "I think we definitely got better as a team, but we still have a lot of room for improvement. We had some good wins in singles and doubles and hopefully we can continue to build on that."
Chadwell went 1-1 in the Flight 2 Singles. She will face Tulane's Emma Levy in the third place match tomorrow. Freshmen Katie Polk (Woodstock, Ga.) and Jovana Pecovski (Apitan, Serbia) also went 1-1 in singles. Polk is in the third place match in Flight 6 while Pecovski will play for third in Flight 7.
