Thoughts on the game:
"I like the way we came out with some energy. On the road, it is very important you come out and start off playing ball. This team, when they hit threes the defense is better and they have more energy. When they are not hitting threes, they hang their head and don't seem to play with the same amount of intensity. We shot the three well and we hit 8-9 free throws, which has been tough on us. Forced 18 turnovers and got 12 steals. A lot of people played well. It seemed like everybody we put in there did some things, so that was a plus as well."
On being outrebounded in the game:
"That was the one thing we probably did not do a very good job of today. We got outrebounded by nine and gave up 19 offensive boards...but other than that, we did a lot of good things."
On adjustments made during the game:
"We have seen a lot of half court traps, whether it be a 1-2-2 or a 2-2-1. Western runs both and today they ran the 1-2-2. We have always stressed our point guard has to be the one that brings it to half court and makes the defense rotate to her before we reverse it and go from there. Both of our point guards have a bad habit of giving it back to the trailer too quickly and the defense hadn't committed. I would rather our point guard handle it than throw it back to our 4 player who is the trailer and make her handle it. I told both of the point guards I was thinking about moving them to post because they don't want to handle the ball. It is just the little things. In any situation you can get better. Don't look at the score, don't look at the time. Just play ball and let's get better and learn from every situation."
