Lady Mocs Earn First National Ranking in Division I Era
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team received its first national ranking as a Division I program today.  The Lady Mocs checked in at No. 67 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association's NCAA Division I Women's Team Rankings.

"This is a big accomplishment for our program," stated head coach Jeff Clark.  "We still have a lot of work to dothis season, but to see our student-athletes get recognized for their hard work is great for UTC tennis.  This program has a tremendous amount of tradition, including six national championships at the AIAW and Division II level, so it is great to see us getting noticed on a national level again."

The Lady Mocs are 10-2 overall and 2-2 in Southern Conference action.  UTC jumped into the top-75 ranking by defeating No. 59 Elon on Sunday.  That win snapped the Phoenix's (11-2, 1-1 SoCon) 11-match winning streak and was the first win over a ranked team for the Lady Mocs at the Division I level.

Chattanooga started the spring season on an 8-0 run, including a school-record five straight shutouts.  The Lady Mocs are an impressive 61-10 in singles play in the spring.  UTC has one match this week, visiting Mercer tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. (E.D.T.).  A link for live scoring is available on the women's tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com.
