CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs men’s golf team has been a factor on the national collegiate scene for quite a few years. Over the last year, it’s gone global. Here is a notebook to keep up with the goings on of past, present and future Mocs.
STEVEN FOX HEADS TO THE MASTERS
It has arrived. Almost from the moment his birdie putt fell true on the 37th hole to win the United States Amateur, the dream-come-true-moment of playing the Masters is finally turning from dream into reality. Fox begins preparation with a member of the fraternity tomorrow. Fellow Cherry Hills Country Club Hall of Champions member Phil Mickelson will join Fox for his first official practice round on the fabled Augusta National links.
Fox plays practice rounds Saturday through Wednesday to get ready for the tourney’s start on Thursday. He’ll play his first two rounds with fellow champions Bubba Watson (2012 Masters) and Webb Simpson (2012 U.S. Open) as is the Masters tradition.
He is coming off a close match loss in cold, rainy conditions at the Georgia Cup. British Am Champ Alan Dunbar escaped with the 1up win with a strong up-and-down for birdie on the par five 18th hole. Earlier this week, Fox was runner-up at the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate.
