MOCS WOMEN’S GOLF NOTEBOOK
Cardinal Cup | Rounds 1 & 2 | Sept. 16, 2013
BRITT POSTS PERFECT CARD
Senior Jordan Britt’s second 18 card today had three birdies and 15 pars for a flawless 69. It is her best second round score of her career and the level-par 144 ties for top 36-hole tally (2012 JMU Eagle Landing Invite). It’s her 11th par or better card in her career, 2nd in the 60’s.
BUSY OPENING STRETCH FOR THE MOCS
Chattanooga’s fall schedule is a five-tournament slate beginning today. It takes just 28 days from start-to-finish to complete as the final round of the stretch is October 13 at Iowa’s Diane Thomason Invitational. That’s 15 rounds in 28 days.
36/18 ADDS PLAYING OPPORTUNITIES
There are 10 regular season events on the calendar for the Mocs in 2013-14. It’s the highest number of tournaments since playing 10 in 2007-08. The 540 potential holes eclipses the 504 total from the inaugural season that included two 36-hole affairs.
The squad plays in seven two-day events with 36 holes on the first day and 18 the second with the other three playing 18 holes per day over the three-day period. This allows for more playing opportunities during the season. Teams are allowed 24 days of competition.
EXPERIENCED SQUAD FOR 2013-14
All six student-athletes who completed 2012-13 are back for Murray’s Mocs. That includes reigning Southern Conference Champion Agathe Sauzon, 2013 SoCon Freshman of the Year Emily McLennan and 2012 SoCon Champ Jordan Britt. That trio also earned all-league honors. Juniors Mette Kryger, Porsche Campbell and sophomore Isabella Loza round out the squad.
All-in-all, this group enters the season with 260 career collegiate rounds at UTC including 24 in NCAA postseason play. The Mocs have won four straight SoCon titles and boast the last three medalists. UTC has qualified for regional play all six years of the program’s existence including the last five as a team after Emma de Groot (2008-11) earned her way in as an individual in 2007-08.
