Mocs Travel to Davidson for Wednesday SoCon Match

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s tennis team travels to Davidson on Wednesday, March 12, for its only match of the week.  The Mocs face the Wildcats in Davidson, N.C., at 3:00 p.m.

UTC is 9-2 overall and 1-0 in SoCon action for the first time since the 2002 season.  UTC opened SoCon play with a win over Georgia Southern (7-0) on Saturday.

Juniors Kaylene Chadwell and Claire Mulyadi are both on five-match winning streaks in singles play.  Chadwell is 9-1 at No. 2 while Mulyadi is 8-1 at No. 5. 

Chadwell and senior Alexa Flynn are 4-0 since taking over at No. 1 doubles two weeks ago.  They are 6-1 as a tandem overall.

Sophomore Kayla Jones is a solid 7-4 at No. 1, followed by Flynn’s 6-3 mark at No. 3.  Sophomore Kelsey Coots is 6-2 at No. 4, and either sophomore Alison Storie (7-1) or Katie Polk (2-0) will take the No. 6 spot. 

Davidson is 6-9 overall and 1-0 in SoCon action after a 5-2 win at Wofford on Sunday.  The Wildcats are led by Jenna Brunner who is 9-4 in the spring and 8-3 at No. 5 singles.  She has won five straight singles matches.  Sophomore Elaina Cummer was a SoCon All-Freshman pick last season and is 6-8 at No. 2 singles. 

The Mocs are 10-12 all-time against Davidson, but have won each of the last three meetings.  UTC scored a 7-0 shutout in last year’s match on March 20 in Chattanooga.
