The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s tennis team looks to extend its six-match winning streak this week when it visits Kennesaw State and hosts Appalachian State. The Mocs travel to the Owls on Thursday, March 20, and host the Mountaineers on Saturday, March 22. Chattanooga is 10-2 overall and has put together a string of three-straight shutouts. The Mocs are 2-0 in Southern Conference action for the first time since 2002.
Juniors Kaylene Chadwell and Claire Mulyadi have each won six consecutive singles matches. Chadwell is 10-1 at No. 2 while Mulyadi is 9-1 at No. 5. Sophomore Kayla Jones leads the team with a 17-7 overall mark, 8-4 at No. 1.
Senior Alexa Flynn is 7-3 at No. 3 while sophomore Kelsey Coots is 7-2 at No. 5. Sophomore Katie Polk has been impressive since her spring debut, going undefeated in her first four matches and 3-0 at No. 6. Flynn and Chadwell have teamed up recently at No. 1 doubles where they are 5-0.
Kennesaw State is 5-7 overall and 1-1 in Atlantic Sun action. First serve against the Owls is set for 1:00 p.m. The Mocs are 4-0 all time against KSU, including last year's 6-1 win in Chattanooga on Jan. 25.
The Appalachian State match is set for Noon on the UTC Tennis Courts. Chattanooga is looking to avenge a 4-2 loss to the Mountaineers last season, despite holding a 20-8 advantage in the all-time series.
ASU is 4-11 overall and 0-2 in SoCon matches. The Mountaineers dropped a 6-0 decision to Georgia Southern their last time out, and a 4-3 contest to Samford earlier in the season.
