Lady Mocs Fall 5-2 to Samford Wednesday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Annie Green won her third straight match Wednesday afternoon but it wasn't enough as the Chattanooga women's tennis team fell 5-2 to Samford at the UTC Tennis Courts.

Green defeated Beth Erwin 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 5 position and the Lady Mocs picked up another point as the Bulldogs forfeited the No. 6 match.

Samford won the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles matches to go up 1-0. Taylor Morgan and Stephanie Parkinson defeated Emily Hangstefer and Grace Robinette 8-5 at the No. 1 position and Andrie Miering and Jessica Diamond won the No. 2 doubles match defeating UTC's Jenniemieke van der Veek and Charlotte Bossy 8-2.

Morgan won the No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-0 over van der Veek and followed that with a 6-3, 6-1 win by Meiring over Shaina Singh at No. 2. Diamond defeated Bossy 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 to clinch the match and Green followed that with her win to give the Lady Mocs their second point.

The Bulldogs got their fifth point with a 7-5, 7-6(6) win at No. 3 by Parkinson over Hangstefer.

The Lady Mocs will travel to Georgia Southern for a 2 p.m. matchup on Saturday in Statesboro, Ga.
