STATESBORO, Ga. --- Emily Hangstefer posted her fourth win in six matches Saturday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Mocs fell 6-1 to Georgia Southern in Southern Conference women’s tennis action in Statesboro, Ga.
Hangstefer defeated the Eagles’ Molly Maddox with a 7-5, 6-3 win at the No. 3 singles position for Chattanooga’s only point on the day. In doubles action, Jennemieke van der Veek and Annie Green earned an 8-7(8) win at the No. 2 doubles in their first pairing this season. The Lady Mocs fall to 5-12 overall and 1-6 in league play.
After winning the doubles point, the Eagles (12-5, 6-2 SoCon) won the first four singles matches for the win.
Jessica Fuller defeated Green 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 5 position followed by the Lady Mocs’ lone win by Hangstefer. Kristi Kegerreis pulled out a 7-5, 6-4 win over UTC’s Shaina Singh at the No. 1 spot for the final 6-1 score.
