Wishing Earns Sportsmanship Award at Junior Qualifying

Rising sophomore Brianna Wishing was awarded the Sportsmanship Award for the Tennessee State Junior Qualifying Tournament held May 29-June 2 in Chattanooga.

 

Wishing, from Murfreesboro, Tenn., received a first-round bye in the tournament and went on to defeat Madison Yen of Memphis, 6-3, 6-2. She fell to Epiphany Turner of Memphis by a 6-2, 6-2 margin.

 

In the consolation rounds Wishing posted a win 6-2, 6-4 over Katie Thornton of Chattanooga then went on to defeat Emory Klindworth 6-2, 6-0 to advance to the quarterfinals. In her quarterfinal match she fell 6-1, 6-2 to Annamarie Herbold of Nashville.

 

Wishing qualified for the Southern Closed 18s Championships to be held in Little Rock, Ark., later this month.
