CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball is hosting a Blue & Gold scrimmage Saturday at Maclellan Gym beginning at 2 p.m. It is the first chance of the season for fans to catch a glimpse of this year’s team.
Festivities begin at 2 p.m. with an open practice. Practice is open to the public and will also serve as a learning experience for those in attendance. Mocs players and coaches plan to explain the fundamentals and rules of the game to fans throughout the hour-long practice.
The Blue & Gold scrimmage begins at 3 p.m. and runs until 4:14 p.m. The intersquad matchup features the Mocs’ seven returning letterwinners, two transfers and its Top 100 recruited freshman class.
Following the match, schedule cards and posters are available to the public as the team takes a seat at the scorer’s table for a meet and greet autograph session.
“It is going to be a fun day for our players and fans,” Head Coach Travis Filar said. “We will have the light practice and have a chance to interact with our fans before the scrimmage. Then after our match, our student-athletes will sign autographs, hand out schedules and have the chance to thank and invites fans back to Maclellan Gym.”
The Mocs regular season begins Aug. 30 in Atlanta, Ga., as Chattanooga takes on the College of Charleston in its opener at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
