Lady Mocs Fall in Regular Season Finale

ELON, N.C. --- In its final game of the regular season, the Chattanooga volleyball team fell 3-0 to Elon Saturday. The Phoenix took the match 25-22, 25-23, and 25-19.

With the loss, the Lady Mocs drop down to the No. 3 seed from the North Division for next week’s conference tournament. Chattanooga will go up against Furman, a team it defeated 3-1 earlier this season.

In the match, the Lady Mocs were led by Courtney Barnes and Aurore Kullak with eight kills apiece. Freshman Ellie Kuhn contributed to the Lady Mocs’ cause with six kills of her own in the loss.

Senior Michaela Huff led the team in assists with 20, while Lara Newberry tied for a match-high in digs with 16.

Elon was led on the afternoon by Sarah Schermerhorn with 11 kills and a .429 hitting percentage.

Megan McMahon had a match-high 26 assists in the contest while Kelley Blakewood had 16 digs.

The Lady Mocs will return to the court on Friday, Nov. 21 for the Southern Conference Tournament against Furman. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m. from Greensboro, N.C.
