CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team travels to Kennesaw, Ga., this weekend to compete in the Kennesaw State Owls Classic Friday and Saturday.
The Mocs face off against Troy, Corth Carolina Central, in-state rival Tennessee State and host-Kennesaw State during their first four-match tournament of the season.
UTC takes on Troy in the first match of the Classic at 10 a.m. Friday at KSU Convocation Center. The Mocs are 2-2 all-time against the Trojans. Chattanooga won the last meeting with a 3-1 victory at the UNF Classic in Jacksonville, Fla., September 11, 2010.
Chattanooga takes a match break before facing Tennessee State at 2:30 p.m. The Mocs are undefeated against the Tigers, holding a 7-0 record in the series history. It has been three years since the teams last went head-to-head as Chattanooga downed TSU 3-1 September 8, 2009 on the Tigers' home court in Nashville, Tenn.
Saturday the Mocs go up against the hosting Owls a Noon in their first match of the final day. Kennesaw State shares a 4-3 record with Chattanooga, and the series record is at 2-2 all-time. The Mocs wrap up the weekend at 5 p.m. Saturday evening against North Carolina Central. This will be the first meeting between the two teams. The Eagles come into the match at 1-8 on the season, competing in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Chattanooga is 0-3 on the road this season, but gained a confidence boost with a 3-1 win over Alabama A&M at Maclellan Gym Tuesday night, looking to improve its 4-3 record. Senior Christina Teter (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) was UTC's kills leader with 11 and senior Heather Parman (Ooltewah, Tenn.) stepped up with 10 against the Bulldogs.
