The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team travels to Bloomington, Ind., this weekend to compete in the Indiana University Adidas Classic. UTC will take on Miami (Ohio), Indiana and Valparaiso over the two-day tournament Friday and Saturday.
Chattanooga is 6-6 on the season after taking a 3-0 win over Alabama State Tuesday night at Maclellan Gym, improving its home record to 5-0. Freshman Briana Reid (Houston, Texas) is coming off a 10-kill match while senior Christina Teter (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) continues to pace the offense with 103 kills.
The Mocs face-off against Miami (Ohio) to begin the Tournament at 5 p.m. Friday evening. The Redhawks are 4-6 coming into the tournament with wins over Wright State, Temple, Chicago State and Indiana State. This will be the first time Miami and Chattanooga have met on the volleyball court.
UTC's Saturday begins at noon in a matchup with the hosting Hoosiers. Indiana is rolling along in 2012 with a 6-3 overall record. This is the Hoosiers' fourth tournament of the season and second hosted. IU won the Black Knight Invitational in West Point, N.Y., to begin the season, but finished 2-1 in its first home tournament with a 3-1 loss to Bowling Green. This will mark the second meeting between the two programs with the last coming in 2006. The Mocs dropped a 3-0 match to the Hoosiers Sept. 15, 2006 while competing in the Indiana University Invitational.
Chattanooga wraps up the Classic Saturday afternoon with a 5 p.m. matchup with Valparaiso. The Crusaders are 5-6 overall this season with a 4-3 record at neutral sites. This will also be the first meeting between the two schools, and the first matchup with a Horizon League institution for the Mocs in 2012.
"We have a tough road ahead of us at Indiana," head coach Travis Filar said. "We play three very quality teams. Obviously, the host institution, Indiana, out of the Big 10, is always really strong and solid. Valparaiso and Miami also do a great job and are two very competitive teams. They are all well coached and our kids are ready for the challenge."

The Mocs return home Friday, Sept. 21 to open Southern Conference play against Appalachian State at 6 p.m. before hosting Western Carolina Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
