Chattanooga Lady Moc Basketball Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga at Samford
Wednesday - Jan. 23, 2013
Head Coach Wes Moore
"They're tough. Here at home especially, they were 6-1 coming into this game. You knew it was going to be a struggle. They were short-handed. We found out today that Kylie Lambert would not be able to play. We had some other people step up. Meghan Downes started and hit some big shots and Tatiana Jackson had an unbelievable game. Nine boards, nine points and did a good job on (defense)."
On the play of Samford's Jazmine Martin:
"We always say don't let someone get happy, and we let her get happy. We were fortunate to hold on. You have to give her credit. I thought (Tatiana Jackson) did a pretty good job, but she was just hitting shots off balance with a hand in her face and she couldn't be stopped."
Positives from the win:
"There were some encouraging things. First of all...they did not get an offensive rebound in the second half. That is an unbelievable job by our kids. They did not miss a lot of shots in the second half, so there weren't that many to go get, but a good team win and a lot of people contributed."
On playing three road games in five days:
"It has been a tough stretch. We really haven't been able to take any time off. I hate traveling the day of the game. It is tough to get the timing right, you don't get to shoot around and you can go over things one more time like we normally do. It is always scary coming here because of that and because of the team they have. They have a great basketball IQ, they can shoot the heck out of it. There are probably things we should have don differently defensively on Martin. Hopefully we can look at that and make adjustments.
On different people stepping up:
"It was a team effort. Taylor Hall, scored 12 points and I had her and Ka'Vonne rotating, but I thought she played well. We went to Ashlen late in the game and she knocked down her free throws. That was really big for her to step up and do that. Kayla Christopher went and got six rebounds, scored 12 points, five assists and no turnovers. That is a pretty good line there."
