2009 SCHEDULE

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga 2009 volleyball schedule was announced by Head Coach Lisa Rhodes on Friday.  It features 13 non-conference and 16 Southern Conference matchups with three tournaments including its own UTC Invitational.

The Lady Mocs open on the road with the Comfort Inn & Suites Invitational at Morehead State University in Morehead, Ky.  The event will feature matches with former SoCon rival East Tennessee State as well as James Madison and the host Lady Eagles, who were co-champions of the Ohio Valley Conference.

After a Sept. 8, road trip to Nashville to face Tennessee State, Chattanooga opens its home schedule with the UTC Invitational Sept. 11-12.  The Lady Mocs host Austin Peay, Loyola (Ill.) and SIU-Edwardsville.  APSU boasted a 22-11 record in 2008, while Loyola registered a 19-11 mark.

The Lady Mocs return to road traveling to ETSU on the 15th before spending the weekend in Ruston, La., at the Techster Home Tournament.  UTC will square off with Grambling (26 wins in 2008 and winners of the SWAC Western Division), Southeastern Louisiana and Louisiana Tech.

UTC returns to a three-match homestand beginning with Belmont, which won 25 matches in 2008, on Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m.  The Lady Mocs open the SoCon slate that weekend with Elon at 2 p.m., on Sat., the 26th before hosting UNC Greensboro at 1 p.m., on Sunday.

Chattanooga remains in conference play the rest of the season with the exception of hosting Kennesaw State on Oct. 28.  Playing in the SoCon North Division, the Lady Mocs play home-and-home with Appalachian State, Elon, UNCG, Samford and Western Carolina.  They travel to SoCon South rivals Davidson, Furman and Wofford, while hosting The Citadel, College of Charleston and Georgia Southern.

All home matches will be played in the Maclellan Gymnasium.  Admission is free.
