The 4.0's were announced as a part of the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll that was recently released by the league office. SoCon athletics directors established the Honor Roll prior to the 1988-89 season as a way to recognize the league's outstanding student-athletes.
The women's soccer team (Andria Aurand, Danielle Barr & Becca Smith) and the women's cross country/track & field team (Jenna Nick, Kathryn Stuart & Sarah White-Woerner) led the Mocs with three 4.0's each. Men's cross country/track & field (Chris Berry & Patrick O'Brien), volleyball (Tess Kosycarz & Christina Teter), women's golf (Mette Kryger & Maria Juliana Loza) and women's tennis (Claire Mulyadi & Jenna Nurik) each had two with a 4.0. Joel Bradford (football), Kayla Christopher (women's basketball), John Lampe (wrestling) and Sara Poteat (softball) rounded out the Mocs 4.0's.
The SoCon Academic Honor Roll consists of student-athletes who participated in varsity sports at member institutions and posted a 3.0 grade point average or higher while passing at least 24 hours in two semesters of classes or its equivalent for other academic calendars.
Chattanooga had 111 student-athletes make the SoCon Academic Honor Roll. Included in that group were 54 Mocs who earned the SoCon Commissioners Medal for having a 3.5 g.p.a. during the 2011-12 academic year.
