UTC Adds T.J. Williams in Early Signing Period

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball team added its second signee of the early period today as big man T.J. Williams signed his National Letter of Intent in his hometown of Wilmington, N.C. Williams is a 6'7", 225-lb., power forward out of Eugene Ashley High School.

""T.J. Williams is a tenacious, high-motor guy," Head Coach John Shulman noted. "He's a skilled, athletic, difference-maker in the post. He is a strong defender and shot blocker. You're talking about a guy at 6'7"-6'8" that has the size and strength to make an immediate impact.

"I think he will remind a lot of people of Nicchaeus Doaks."

Williams plays for Bryn McSwain at Ashley and competed in AAU for Flight 22 and Team United. He grades out as a three-star recruit from Scout.com and two-stars from both ESPN.com and Future 150. He averaged 15 points and 11 rebounds per game as a junior at Ashley. He averaged 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks as a junior.

Williams joins Christian Kennedy, a 6'10", 200-lb., post from Northside High School in Warner Robins, Ga., and 5'10", 160-lb., Memphis-area guard Jonathan Stark (Munford High School) on the Mocs early signee list.
