Chattanooga comes home to host the Chattanooga Sub-Regional of the CBE Classic. Louisiana Tech, Southeast Missouri and Troy square off in a round-robin November 18-20 in McKenzie Arena. The Mocs face SEMO, Troy and then La. Tech.

- First ranked opponent for the Mocs since No. 3 Kentucky last December. UTC is 3-47 all-time against ranked opponents. See page 2 of game notes for extended ranking notes.

- The Kansas game marks the sixth time the Mocs have faced a previous season's NCAA finalist. It is the second year in a row UTC has done it with Butler on the docket in 2011-12 (57-46 loss). Previously, the Mocs played North Carolina (1982 champ) at home on Dec. 21, 1982 losing 73-66, at Michigan (1993 runner-up) on Dec. 5, 1993 losing 97-86, at Kansas (2003 runner-up) losing 90-76 on Nov. 21, 2003 and Memphis (2008 runner-up) in San Juan, P.R., on Nov. 20, 2008 losing 83-71.

- KU holds a 2-0 series advantage against UTC. Shulman is facing the Jayhawks for the first time as a head coach. See page three of the game notes for more series info.

- This is the first UTC roster since well before the move to DI (1977-78) to not have a single junior college transfer on its roster. See expanded note on page two (New Path) of game notes.

- Chattanooga made a school record 23 steals including six from Farad Cobb (West Palm Beach, Fla.). Those six marked a new freshman record best the previous high of four which was held by seven student-athletes. Among them is teammate Ronrico White (Knoxville, Tenn.) and assistant coach Casey Long (2004-07).

- The Mocs struggled shooting the ball from outside Tuesday night making just 9.1 percent (2-22) from three-point range. It did not stop the team from scoring 88 as UTC made 56.3 percent (27-48) inside the arc scoring 42 of its 88 points in the paint.

- The opening night starting lineup included 32 career starts (Zlovaric 31/Mason 1).

- 18 home games this season break the Mocs' school record of 17 set in the 1985-86 and 2011-12 seasons. See page four of the game notes for more on the schedule.

The Mocs are 3-47 all-time against ranked DI opponents:
- Last win over a Top 25 team came in 1996-97 topping No. 19 Illinois, 75-63, in Charlotte, N.C., on March 16, 1997 to advance to the Sweet 16 in the Southeast Regional.

- Other wins include No. 17 Georgia (1997 in Charlotte) and No. 15 East Tennessee State (1/21/91 in Chattanooga).

- Winless on the road against Top 25 teams (0-23).

The game at KU is the first Big 12 meeting for the Mocs since Missouri on Nov. 24, 2009. It's the first matchup with a current Big 12 member since Nov. 21, 2003 at...Kansas.
- 1-5 (.167) against current Big 12 membership.

- 0-2 vs. KU, 0-1 vs. Oklahoma, 1-2 vs. Texas.

- 1-0 at home, 0-3 away and 0-2 neutral.

- Kansas is 1-1 with a 74-55 win over Southeast Missouri and a 67-64 loss to Michigan State.

- Head Coach Bill Self is in his ninth season at KU. He played at Oklahoma State and has headed programs at Oral Roberts (1993-97), Tulsa (1997-00) and Illinois (2000-03).

- Jeff Withey leads the Jayhawks averaging 12. 5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per contest. Ben McLemore adds 11.5 points, 7.5 boards and 4.0 assists per game, while Elijah Johnson chips in 10 points per game.

- KU is shooting 43.6 percent from the field, 20.0 percent (6-30) from beyond the arc and 52.5 percent (42-80) inside it.

- Defensively the Jayhawks throttle opponents allowing just 39.1 percent shooting. Led by Withey's seven, Kansas has 17 blocks (8.5 per game), 10 vs. SEMO and seven against Michigan State.

- Interesting comparison, KU shot 2-21 from three-point range in its opener, while the Mocs were 2-22 in theirs.

When is the last time Chattanooga had two freshmen in the opening night starting lineup? Well not once on record in the DI era (1977-78 to present).

- Josh Odem (2010) is the last freshman to get the nod on opening night (11/13/09 vs. Virginia Intermont). As previously noted, Odem in 2009 is the last freshman to start on opening night for the Mocs.

- That same game is the last time Chattanooga had as many first-time starters as this season. Keegan Bell (2010-12), Ridge McKeither (2010), Odem and Ricky Taylor (2009-12) each made their first start against Virginia Intermont on November 13, 2009. McKeither and Odem made their collegiate debuts.

- Chattanooga returns one starter (Drazen Zlovaric) and eight of 13 letterwinners.

- Graduated 53.7% of its points, 42.5% of its rebounds, 73.7% of its assists and 54.5% of its minutes.

- Also gone are 57.3% of the Mocs shot attempts, 78.6% from three-point range. The departed shot 37.5% (398-1060) from the floor and 33.1% (188-568) beyond the arc, while the returners made 46.5% (367-789) from the field and 33.5% (52-155) from deep.
