Wade Announces First Signees of His Coaching Tenure

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---Chattanooga Mocs Head Basketball Coach Will Wade has hit the ground running in the Scenic City. He announced today – exactly one week after accepting the job – his first two signees. Justin Tuoyo, a 6’9” transfer from VCU, and Anthanee Doyle, a 6’4” combo guard from N.C., join the program beginning fall of 2013.

Tuoyo follows Wade from the ultra-successful Rams program. An athletic post presence, Tuoyo is expected to sit out the year due to NCAA transfer rules and have three years remaining.

“Tuoyo gives us size and length along with a great understanding of what we are trying to do,” said Wade. “He’ll be able to help ease the transition into ‘chaos’”.

The former VCU big man ranked as high as No. 84 in the country coming out of Lovejoy High School in Hampton, Ga. He averaged a double-double his junior (12.0 ppg, 11.0 rpg, 5.0 bpg) and senior (13.9 ppg, 10.6 rpg, 7.6 bpg) seasons earning All-State mention. He posted 1.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in 7.2 minutes per game accumulating 11 blocks in his brief time as a freshman at VCU.

Doyle originally planned to enroll at Queens University of Charlotte but had a change of heart. Queens Head Coach Wes Long joined Wade’s staff as an assistant so Doyle decided to follow him to Chattanooga as well.

“Doyle was a steal for Queens,” Wade added. “He really fits what we want to do. Anthanee shoots it really well and will be able to handle work at the 1 and 2. He’s got the length and athleticism to guard the ball full court in our system.”

He averaged 17.9 points per game as a senior ending his career with 1,065 points. Doyle is a two-time first team All-Tri-9 Conference team and second team all-district at Holly Springs High School.
