DAVIDSON, N.C.---The Chattanooga Mocs’ (14-9) 10-game win streak ended tonight in a 94-51 loss at Davidson (11-11) Thursday night. Despite the loss, Chattanooga leads the Southern Conference with an 8-1 conference mark, a half-game ahead of the Wildcats at 7-1.

Casey Jones (New Orleans, La.) was the bright spot in the loss. Jones had a second straight 20-point performance with 20 points and eight rebounds.

De’Mon Brooks led Davidson with 27 points and 12 rebounds.  He led a quartet of Wildcats in double digits joined by Jordan Barham (16), Tyler Kalinoski (11) and Tom Droney (11).

The Wildcats took control of the game late in the first half. After Jones hit a jumper in the lane to make it 22-15 at 7:24, Brooks answered. He scored on back-to-back possessions to spark a 21-10 run the remainder of the half to race out to a 43-25 halftime lead. The Mocs would not be able to mount a comeback on this night.

“We just didn’t give ourselves a chance,” Head Coach Will Wade said. “Davidson out-toughed us in the paint and all over the court. We were not ourselves tonight. We were not the team that got to 8-0, and we strayed a little bit from our formula.

“Everybody in the league gets beat, but now we have to be ready to respond and go again Saturday.”

Chattanooga hit just 32.7 percent (16-49) from the field missing all 13 three-point attempts. It’s the first time in 473 games that the program has not hit a three-pointer.

Davidson had the hot hand this evening. It shot 59.2 percent (42-71) from the field, 42.9 percent from 3pt range (6-14). It won the battle of the boards 44-26 and dished out 19 assists against nine turnovers.

“We are still a good team,” Wade added. “We got a little sidetracked tonight, but we have to get back to what made us a good and be ready to play Saturday night against Furman. We are disappointed, but everyone in the league is going to lose. It is unrealistic to think we’re going undefeated.

“Now we’ve lost and we have to see how we’re going to respond,” he concluded. “I believe in our guys, they have the right stuff, and I think they are going to respond Saturday night.”
