Mocs Menís Basketball Signs West Tennessee Star

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---The Chattanooga men’s basketball program signed Ricky Taylor Head Coach John Shulman announced Thursday.  Taylor is a 6’4” guard out of Haywood County High School in Brownsville, Tenn.

“Ricky is a natural born scorer,” said Shulman.  “He has a mid-range game that young people don’t have anymore.  He has great size at the “two” guard and has three-point shooting range.

“He is a better person than a basketball player,” added Shulman.  “And Ricky is a heck of a basketball player.  We are thrilled to have him in our program.”

Taylor averaged 22 points, 6.7 rebounds and three assists per game this season.  He recently was named MVP of the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association Tennessee All-Star game.  He chose Chattanooga over Southern Illinois, Austin Peay and Southeast Missouri.

Ricky joins Jasper Williams as incoming freshman for 2008-09.  Williams, a 6’1” point guard from Progressive Christian (Md.), signed in the Fall.

The Mocs finished 2007-08 with an 18-13 record, co-Champions of the Southern Conference North Division.
