CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---The Chattanooga men’s basketball program signed junior college wing Ty Patterson from Dodge City (Kan.) Community College Head Coach John Shulman announced on Wednesday. The 6’6” guard hails from Anderson, S.C.
“Ty has amazing athleticism,” said Shulman. “He is a natural scorer, it’s what he does. He can score from ‘three’ as well as put the ball on the floor and attack the basket. Ty is also a great one-on-one defender.
“It’s funny because he fits the mold of a big “three” from South Carolina,” smiled Shulman. “First it was Chris Brown, then Marcus Watts, now we have Ty on board.”
Patterson averaged a team-high 19.1 points per game to go with 4.1 rebounds in the highly competitive Jayhawk Conference in 2008. Ty shot 48.9 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from three-point range making 2.8 per game. He earned First Team All-Region VI
Patterson chose Chattanooga over Iowa State, Charlotte and Utah State. He joins high school guards Jasper Williams (Fort Washington, Md./Progressive Christian) and Ricky Taylor (Brownsville, Tenn./Haywood County) in the Mocs 2008 recruiting class.
