CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball announced the sixth member of its 2011 signing class Monday with the addition of Jared Bryant of Cincinnati, Ohio. Bryant is a 6'8", 225-lb., post player out of Roger Bacon High School.
"We needed size and an inside presence," said head coach John Shulman. "With Jared, we get both. He is a skilled big man who is used to playing great competition and winning.
"He fits exactly what we were looking for."
Bryant averaged 12 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game in 2010-11 for head coach Brian Neal at Roger Bacon while shooting 63.2 percent from the field. As a junior, he shot 66.5 percent from the field while averaging 12.8 points, 7.8 boards and 2.0 blocks per contest.
He earned first team honors for All-Greater Catholic League, Cincinnati Enquirer All-City and All-Southwest District, while tallying honorable mention all-state. Bryant helped lead the Spartans to three straight Greater Catholic League Central Division championships.
