CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga Mocs head coach John Shulman announced the signing of point guard Farad Cobb (6-1, 165) to scholarship papers today. Cobb fills an imminent need with third-year Keegan Bell departing at the end of the 2012 season.

Cobb is from West Palm Beach, Fla., and plays at Summit Christian School for Murray Smith. He is ranked No. 49 nationally among point guards on ESPN.com. The three players around him, Nos. 47, 48 and 50 are committed to Boston College (Joe Rahon), Butler (Chris Harrison-Docks) and TCU (Clyde Smith), respectively.

"Farad Cobb is a very important piece to the puzzle," Shulman stated. "Through the entire July evaluation period, there were two guys who stood out as impact guys and one was Farad. He's well-coached and can come in and play immediately.

"He's a winner," Shulman continued. "He can handle it and really shoot that ball and is a true gym rat. He is a tremendous fit for what we do."

Farad averaged 22.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game last season for Summit Christian leading the Saints to their first Florida Class A Championship. He shot 51 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line in earning All-State honors.

He is ranked No. 25 overall (No. 5 point guard) in Florida by SourceHoops.com, two spots ahead of Tennessee signee Derek Reese. He played AAU over the summer with Atlanta Xpress.

Cobb joins forward Joshu'a Warren (Marietta, Ga./Fishburne Military) as the early signing additions in the 2012 class. The period is open through Wednesday, November 16.
