2012-13 CHATTANOOGA MOCS SCHEDULE QUOTES:
On the schedule as
a whole:
"We are excited to get started. This is a very
competitive schedule and to have 18 home games is special for our fans."
On the seven DI
home non-conference contests:
"Scheduling is not easy and certainly having the CBE
Classic helps. We have a good field for the Dr Pepper too with Austin Peay which
is always in the OVC hunt, High Point played well in the Big South last year
and Great West champ Utah Valley is coming back. Mercer won the 2012 CBI
Championship and it's good to have Eastern Kentucky back on the schedule."
On 18 home games:
"It's important to be at home. We have great fans and
McKenzie Arena is a great home-court advantage. To have 18 games to sell,
market, etc., is important for the program. It's a commitment to the program,
school and community. But to be certain, it's not easy to accomplish. More than
anything I am excited for our fans to see our team and to redeem ourselves from
last year."
On the trips to
Kansas, LSU & Georgia Tech:
"You always want to measure yourself against the best,
and we try to schedule games against the top conferences every year. To go to a
place like Phog Allen Fieldhouse is special to a basketball purist."
On the SoCon
Outlook:
"You never know until you play the games, but I really
like our team. We are very young, but we've made the commitment to recruit
solely from the high school ranks, and it's in the best interest of the program
long term.
"Davidson has all their key guys back after winning it last year. UNCG, Elon, App State and Samford have all their top guys returning. It's never easy, but I think we will be better in a lot of areas this year. We need to get back to who we are...get back to our identity."
On getting back to
Chattanooga Basketball:
"That's
been a huge offseason focus for us. It's a big reason Casey Long is back with
us on our staff. It's getting the 'Chattanooga Way' back as the culture of this
team. We need to get back to defending and rebounding the basketball better
than anyone else in the league."
