Chattanooga Lady Mocs Basketball Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga at Auburn
Auburn Arena - Auburn, Ala.
Wednesday - Dec. 19, 2012

Head Coach Wes Moore
Thoughts on the game:
This is a team that averages about 72, 73.  I can't be too disappointed with the defensive effort.  But offensively, we worked so many days on this press and for us to come out here and to just be intimidated by it...hesitate against it, instead of attacking it.  At some point it comes down to knocking some shots down.  You would like to think we could have got it inside some more.  With that zone and the press, we came down and had open looks.  Unfortunately, when you are 4-31 from the 3-pt. line, you are in trouble.  Maybe we shot too many threes, but I thought we had good looks.  It was just one of those nights.  You've just got to get yourself in the gym and work on it.  You can't hang your head.  Like I have said before, you have to work on it.  Maybe we will be able to do that over the break."

On the play of junior Ashlen Dewart:
"We were trying to go inside to her.  Ashlen had a good game.  Let me say this, Ashlen was sick all day.  She was throwing up and everything else.  She showed a lot of heart going out there and battling as long as she did.  She was effective.  We needed to get it to her more.  We cut it to seven in the second half and Ashlen played a big part of that, but that we as close as we could get."

More on the game:
"22 turnovers and 10 assists, that is not good.  But if you are not knocking down shots, you don't have the opportunity for assists.  You have to give them credit.  They gave us different looks.  They make it hard on you to run your stuff.  At some point, you have to play basketball.  You have to make good decisions against the press and knock down some shots."

On stopping Auburn's momentum:
"We used a couple of timeouts in the first half, which I don't like doing normally, but we had to.  They kept making runs, but you have to get some stops and make some shots.  It is hard to stop a run when you are not scoring at the other end.  The scary thing is...this is the style Appalachian State plays.  We are going to see it some more.  We are going to have to handle the press and knock down some shots better than we did tonight."

Final thoughts:
"It was discouraging.  You feel like if you play well, you have a shot at it, but we just didn't play well.  It is hard to blame a kid for missing shots.  All we can do is get in the gym and get better."
