CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs announce their third, and final, signee of the 2012 early signing class in guard GerVaughn "Gee" McGhee. At 6-4, 205 lbs., he is a physical combo guard that will play the 2 and backup at the 1 for the Mocs.

McGhee averaged 23.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game last year at Redemptorist High School in Baton Rouge. He played AAU for his father, Ronnie McGhee, and the Bayou Flames as well as the Louisiana Dynasty.

"Gee is a high-level guy," head coach John Shulman said. "He's a tough, physical 2 who can handle either of the guard spots. We are really excited with this class."

Gee had an outstanding summer in AAU. His standout performance at the adidas Super 64 and Las Vegas Fab 48 was chronicled on ESPN.com.

"McGhee was a beast against Mac Irvin Fire in its highly-contested playoff game. He is a physical wing-type with a great burst off the dribble. He can knock down the 3-point shot and he gets great lift on it. In addition, when his team needed someone to step up, he took command and converted a number of high-level finishes through contact at the rim. Overall, he is a hard-nosed winner with all the physical intangibles to be a high-level wing at the next level." - ESPN.com

McGhee joins forward Joshu'a Warren (Marietta, Ga./Fishburne Military) and point guard Farad Cobb (West Palm Beach, Fla./Summit Christian) as the early signing additions in the 2012 class. UTC plays its home opener tomorrow night against Kennesaw State at 7 p.m. It's Youth Night so all youths 17 & under receive a free general admission ticket.
