WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CLOSES OUT ROAD SLATE MONDAY NIGHT AT SAMFORD

 

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s basketball team will close out the road portion of the regular season Monday night against Samford at the Pete Hanna Center. The game is set to tip off at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Larry Ward will have the call LIVE on ESPN 105.1 FM “The Zone”.

 

- Chattanooga is 13-6 vs. Samford. While this is the 20th meeting between the two teams, it is the 14th since the Bulldogs joined the Southern Conference in 2008. UTC is 8-5 against Samford in league play.

 

- Chattanooga is 4-4 on the road against Samford.

 

- After losing 4-of-5 games against the Bulldogs, including an overtime loss in the SoCon Tournament semifinals, Chattanooga has won the last three.

 

- In the meeting earlier this season, UTC won 63-50 at the Roundhouse, giving Jim Foster his 800th career win.

 

CHATTANOOGA

 

- Chattanooga is 15-0 in league play this year and 23-3 overall

 

- UTC has won 31 consecutive Southern Conference games.

 

- In road games this year, Chattanooga is 11-2 with losses at Tennessee and Hawai’i. Chattanooga’s 11-game road win streak is second in the country.

 

- UTC is ranked in the Top Three in the SoCon in 14-of-19 categores and leads the league in seven (scoring defense, scoring margin, field goal percentage, rebounding defense, assists, turnover margin, assist-turnover ratio)

 

- Chattanooga is 13-0 when topping the 70-point mark

 

- Chattanooga’s roster includes 13 active players - five seniors, one junior, two sophomores and five freshmen. Three are sitting out this season.

 

SAMFORD

 

- Samford is tied for sixth in the league standings with a 7-8 SoCon record and is 9-17 overall.

 

- The Bulldogs are 4-5 at home this season

 

- Samford leads the SoCon in 3-point field goals with 6.0 per game and is in the Top Three in four categories.

 

- The Bulldogs have suffered major roster losses this season including a pair of starters. As a result, the Samford starting lineup includes four freshmen. Three have earned SoCon Freshman of the Week  honors led by Ellen Riggins three.
