Women's Basketball Preps for NCAA Tournament

LEXINGTON, Ky. --- With a small contingent of reporters looking on, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball team stepped foot inside Memorial Coliseum for the first time Friday afternoon.

The day started with breakfast at the hotel and, after a few administrative meetings, the team was off to practice at Transyvania University to loosen up and prepare for its game Saturday. After lunch on the bus, the team arrived back at the hotel to relax, catch up on school work or watch 14-seed Mercer beat 2-seed Duke in the men's NCAA Tournament.

At 3:00 p.m., the Lady Mocs boarded the bus, bound for Memorial Coliseum located on the campus of the University of Kentucky. While head coach Jim Foster and seniors Taylor Hall and Alex Black were ushered into the media room for a press conference, the rest of the team relaxed in the locker room to wait for Syracuse to leave the floor for their practice.

The media is allowed into the gym for the first 15 minutes of the practice and then it's closed. ESPN's analysts were on hand to watch the team and talk with Coach Foster.

ESPN analyst Brooke Weisbold, a former women's basketball player for Coastal Carolina, put up her meager wingspan against freshman Jasmine Joyner's 7-foot reach and was dwarfed in the process.

Friday night will be dinner at the hotel and relaxing while getting ready to play Saturday. The Lady Mocs' game against Syracuse will tip off at approximately 1:30 p.m. on ESPN2 where available and on ESPN3.
