CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's basketball head coach Jim Foster announced the addition of Queen Alford to the roster today.
“We are delighted to have a player of her abilities join our program,” Foster said. “It is not often that you get a player of this caliber in this fashion.”
Alford, a 5-10 guard from Jacksonville University will sit out the 2014-15 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
As a freshman with the Dolphins, Alford made 10 starts in 27 appearances. She was named the Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year, the first for a JU player. In her two seasons with Jacksonville, Alford was named to the All-Atlantic Sun Second-team.
She led JU in scoring over both seasons with 11.7 points per game as a freshman and 13.4 ppg in her sophomore campaign, ninth in the A-Sun. She averaged more than six rebounds per season and was a two-time A-Sun Newcomer of the Week as a freshman.
In her career at Jacksonville, Alford scored 717 points and pulled down 358 rebounds. She shot 41.5 percent from the field and recorded 36 shots from beyond the arc. Alford snared 66 steals as a sophomore and had 38 assists.
