The Lady Mocs will look to clinch the third seed at the 2011 Southern Conference Tournament at the McKenzie Arena with a win over Western Carolina or an Elon loss at the College of Charleston. Chattanooga will finish third regardless of the outcome of either game but would be the fourth seed if UTC and Elon tied for third.

SCOUTING CHATTANOOGA (15-13, 12-7 SoCon)

The Lady Mocs defeated UNCG and Elon to move the Lady Mocs into sole possession of third place in the Southern Conference standings and in control of its own destiny. Chattanooga leads the SoCon in assist-TO ratio and is second from the 3-point arc with 221 long-rangers. The Lady Mocs are averaging 67.1 points per game, third in the SoCon and are fourth with a 41.2 field goal percentage. UTC is also fourth from the 3-point line with a 33.3 field goal percentage and second in assists averaging 14.6 per game. Whitney Hood has a league-high 19.3 points per game and is second in the SoCon with a 53.4 field goal percentage.  Kayla Christopher is second on the team in scoring with 11.8 ppg and leads UTC with 60 3-point field goals. She is ranked 14th in the country making 43 percent of her attempts. Tenisha Townsend is third on the team in scoring (9.1 ppg) and leads the Lady Mocs with 109 assists and has 51 treys. Hood has a team-high 6.5 rebounds per game and Kylie Lambert follows with 6.0. Bailey Dewart has 5.5 boards per game and a team-high 31 steals.

SCOUTING WESTERN CAROLINA (8-20, 6-13 SoCon)

The Catamounts have won two of their last three games snapping an eight game losing skid. Western Carolina is averaging 55.6 points per game 37.3 rebounds per game. On the offensive glass, the Catamounts are ranked third in the league averaging 14.2 per game. While shooting 31.6 percent from the 3-point line, WCU allows opponents to shoot 33.5 percent. From the 3-point line, the Catamounts are eighth in the SoCon with 4.3 per game. Kaila'Shea Menendez leads her team with 11.2 points per game while Caitlin Hollifield is second with 9.8 ppg and a team-high average 6.5 rebounds. Emily Clarke leads WCU with 44 3-pointers and has 8.5 ppg along with 36 assists and 27 steals. Hollifield and Shauna Terry have each recorded a team-best 23 blocked shots.

SERIES HISTORY

Today will mark the 70th meeting between Chattanooga and Western Carolina. The Lady Mocs are 68-11 against the Catamounts, but have lost two of the last four games. In Cullowhee, the Lady Mocs are 22-6 while in the Wes Moore Era, Chattanooga is 23-6 with three overtime contests (1-2).
