Hall's 3-pointers Lead Lady Mocs Past Furman 60-38

ASHEVILLE, N.C. --- Sophomore Taylor Hall (New Tazewell, Tenn.) drained four second-half 3-pointers, one shy of her career-high, to lead the Lady Mocs to a 60-38 Southern Conference quarterfinal win over Furman at Kimmel Arena.

Chattanooga improves to 22-8 overall and will advance to play Appalachian State Sunday in the semifinals at the U.S. Cellular Center. Furman drops below .500 and closes the season out at 15-16.

Hall, with a game-high 16 points, went 5-of-13 on the night with a 4-for-6 performance from beyond the arc. Senior Whitney Hood (Meridian, Miss.) had 14 points for the Lady Mocs, including 4-of-4 from the free throw line, and a team-high eight rebounds along with two blocked shots. Junior Kylie Lambert (Etowah, Tenn.) had 10 points for Chattanooga with two assists.

The Lady Mocs started the game with energy, scoring the first six points of the contest, all on the back of Hood. With 9:04 to play in the opening stanza, Hood hit a jumper to give Chattanooga a 14-8 lead, but the Lady Mocs would score just three more the rest of the half and trail 22-17 at intermission.

The second half started with Hall nailing eight straight points on a pair of 3-pointers and two free throws to give UTC a 25-22 lead. Furman battled back and the two team knotted it up 30-30 with 14:45 to play. Hall capped of a 12-2 run with a 3-pointer to give the Lady Mocs a 42-32 lead with 10:29 to play.

Furman could only manage six points over the remainder of the game and the Lady Mocs reeled off 18 more points for a 22-point win.

Sophomore Faith Dupree (Knoxville, Tenn.) had seven points and four rebounds and Tenisha Townsend dished out a game-high four assists.

Furman was led by Kaitlin Murphy and Teshia Griswold with 10 points each and Roberts chipped in seven points. Brittany Hodges had a team-high seven rebounds.

The two teams were matched on the boards with 34 apiece. The Lady Mocs were 21-of-56 from the field (37.5%) and the Paladins were 13-of-48 (27.1%). Chattanooga outscored Furman 18-14 in the paint and 8-12 off turnovers.
