Coach Moore Post Game Elon
"We've make it a habit here lately of starting out slow and I think most of it was that we couldn't make any shots. I think our effort and energy were there and we were finally able to hit some shots and get some turnovers that led to some transition buckets. I'm really proud of the defensive effort to hold them to 40 points. I think Ford is leading the conference in scoring (second), so to be able to hold her to five points is quite an accomplishment. The bench was great. Tatianna [Jackson] came in and gave us a lift with forcing some turnovers. Faith Dupree had a good game and it was good to see her get it going. We had nineteen assists and eleven turnovers. We did a pretty good job of executing once we started hitting some shot. It was a good team win."
The difference between this game and the last time you played Elon
"Being at home may has made us more comfortable. I think we did a lot of similar things. Again, we talked about sticking with Ford at halftime because once she makes a few shots she will gain a lot of confidence and then she'll start making everything. Evans still hurt us on the offensive boards. She is just relentless. We did a little bit better job on her in the second half. We did a nice job of making some other people take some shots and not letting Ford get a bunch of open shots."
Thoughts on staying in the game early
"We were down 14-5 after the first media timeout and we just kept working and playing good defense. Our goal is to hold teams under thirty points a half and they had eighteen and twenty two. So we had a good night from a defensive standpoint."
On how the bench played
"Our bench did a great job tonight. A lot of that was Tatianna and Faith. Tatianna has been doing a great job on defense as well as attacking the boards. We also had her on Ford a lot of the night so she was pretty busy on both ends of the floor."
What was different the final ten minutes of the first half
"We went small down the stretch of the half and I think that was good to us. They had a big lineup out there which let us attack off the bounce. Which again when you're not hitting shots, the best thing you can do is make somebody guard you. We were able to turn them over and get some transition baskets."
Thoughts on confidence off the bench
"Tatianna and Faith got a big lift with their confidence tonight and that may help them down the stretch. Ka'Vonne [Towns] has been doing a great job off the bench along with Meghan [Downes] and Alicia [Red Payne]. They did some good things for us tonight and gave us a spark tonight."
Kylie Lambert, senior, guard
Thoughts on guarding Allie Ford
"She's a really good player, and we focused on her in practice. We tried to just slow her down, and keep her from shooting the "3". We focused on her and Evans both because they are both really good players."
Thoughts on limited minutes
"I'm just trying to adjust as well as I can because there is so much I can do."
Thoughts on difference between the last game against Elon and tonight
"It's really exciting. It's always exciting after a win, especially against Elon since we got beat in overtime at their place. So far it's our only loss. It was a big win, and it meant a lot."
Thoughts on only scoring 5 points in the first ten mintues
"It was frustrating, but Coach Moore was still trying to run offenses so we could score a lot more because at first we weren't scoring on our own. By him running plays, it helped.
Thoughts on what sparked the 18-4 run
"I personally believe a few girls coming off the bench really sparked it, and they did really well and picked up the pace."
Faith Dupree, junior, forward
Thoughts on getting in an offensive groove
"When I made the first couple of baskets, I felt like I was more comfortable out there. I really that it's actually happening because I've had a few rusty games, and I'm trying to get out of that. So that's been my focus."
