Golfweek Conference Challenge | Round 2 | Sept. 16, 2013
FINAL HOLE TRIPS UP SOLID DAY
Chattanooga made its turn today on No. 18, after starting on No. 10, at plus-five. Over holes 1-8, the squad trimmed two shots off that total, but the par four ninth was another story. The Mocs dropped six shots to end up at nine-over 297.
MORE BIRDIES HIGHLIGHT ROUND TWO
The Mocs posted 11 birdies on their second 18 after just eight in round one. Four of yesterday’s eight came from Ewan Scott. Today’s leaders were Davis Bunn and Brooks Thomas with eight apiece.
WEILGUNI SOARING WITH THE EAGLES
Benni Weilguni recorded an eagle on the par 5 fifth hole. It was his first of the season and 14th of his career. That’s one off the school record of 15 by Derek Rende (2007-10). It was the second of the season as Brooks Thomas recorded the first one in the second round of the Carpet Capital.
BUNN BOUNCES BACK
Bunn posted his second par or better round of the season today carding a two-under 70. It included four birdies, 12 pars and two bogeys. That included a birdie-birdie-birdie run on holes 2-4 which were his 11-13 for the day.
THOMAS SHOOTS SEASON BEST
Thomas shot his best round of the young season with a one-over par 73 in round two. He is averaging 74.0 strokes per round over the last four.
