SOCON-LEADING LADY MOCS HEAD TO DAVIDSON SATURDAY

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s basketball team heads to Davidson Saturday in a Southern Conference matchup featuring the league’s top two teams. The game tips at Noon and will be available live on ESPN 105.1 FM.

Chattanooga is undefeated in league action halfway through the season with a 9-0 record and is 17-3 overall. Davidson is 10-10 overall and 7-2 in SoCon play with losses at Chattanooga and at Appalachian State.

Chattanooga leads the series with the Wildcats 34-9 and is 15-6 at Davidson. UTC has won the last five game and nine of the last 10 with the lone loss, a 56-52 affair in 2012 in Belk Arena. Chattanooga won the meeting earlier this year at home by a 72-64 margin.

 - In the NCAA standings UTC is eighth for fewest personal fouls (14.9); ninth for turnovers per game (12.5); 15th for won-lost percentage (85.0); 16th for assist-turnover ratio (1.25); 25th for scoring defense (58.1); 34th for field goal percentage (.444); 39th for scoring margin (11.7).

 - Senior Taylor Hall leads UTC in scoring (13.9); rebounding (8.7); assists (4.7); free throw percentage (.828); steals (2.4); blocked shots (1.2); and leads the league in assist-turnover ratio (1.7), defensive rebounds (7.1) and minutes played (35.7).

 - Hall is ranked among the nation’s leaders in seven categories: rebounds per game, assists per game, blocked shots per game, steals per game, free throw percentage, assist-turnover ratio and is 37th in the NCAA for double-doubles with nine.

 - Senior Ashlen Dewart is averaging 11.0 points per game (16th – SoCon) and 5.2 rebounds per game (18th – SoCon).

 - Dewart is fourth in the league for field goal percentage making 51.7 percent of her shots.

 - Freshman Chelsea Shumpert is third in the SoCon for 3-point field goal percentage (.426) and 13th for 3-pointers made (1.2/game).

DAVIDSON NOTES

 - After falling at Chattanooga on Jan. 6, Davidson won four of the last five games with its lone loss coming at Appalachian State.

 - Davidson has topped the 70-point mark nine times including three games with more than 80 points.

 - The Wildcats are second in the league in scoring with 69.6 points per game but are ninth in the SoCon for scoring defense giving up 72.8 points per game

 - Davidson is second in the league in assist-turnover ratio (0.9) and third in the league in steals with 8.5 per game, turnover margin (+0.80) and 3-pointers made per game (5.7)

 - Laura Murray is second in the SoCon in scoring with 18.6 points per game and steals (2.7), third in 3-point field goals made (1.7) and assist-turnover ratio (1.2), fifth in assists (3.2) 28th in rebounding (4.1), 15th in field goal percentage (.411)

 - Hannah Early is fourth in the league in scoring with 14.9 points per game and Dakota Dukes is sixth with 13.9 points per game.

 - Dukes leads Davidson in rebounding with 7.9 boards per game and field goal percentage (.516).
