Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Notes
Appalachian State at Chattanooga
Maclellan Gym – Chattanooga, Tenn.
Saturday – Feb. 8, 2014

TEAM
- Chattanooga stayed in first place in the Southern Conference race with a dominating 69-41 win over Appalachian State today.  The Mocs have won 16-straight and are 12-0 in SoCon action, 20-3 overall.  The Mountaineers drop to 9-13 and 6-6 in league play.  Davidson is second in the league with a 9-3 tally, 12-11 overall.

- After dropping three of four in the series in 2011-12, Chattanooga is back on a five game winning streak against the Mountaineers.  54-25 all-time.  26-8 in Chattanooga.

- 1,778 fans attended today’s Throwback Game in Maclellan Gym.  It was the first game in Big Mac for the Mocs since a 55-50 defeat to East Tennessee State in the Southern Conference Tournament on March 3, 2005.

- The Mocs have won 28-straight SoCon games…last loss was a 70-60 overtime defeat at Elon on Jan. 7, 2013.

- Head coach Jim Foster won his 803nd game today…11th women’s coach in the NCAA to reach that mark.  His 36-year mark stands at 803-310.  The 2013 Hall of Fame inductee is the only coach in NCAA Division I history - men or women - to lead three different teams to at least 200 wins (St. Joseph’s: 248, Vanderbilt: 256, Ohio State: 279). This marked his 27th season with 20 or more wins, tied for seventh most in Division I.

- The Mocs have won six-straight SoCon games by 10+ points…longest such run since the 2008-09 season when they won seven in a row by double-digits in league play.

- It was over early with UTC running out to a 26-8 lead following a Meghan Downes three-pointer with 9:31 left in the game.

- UTC led 40-16 at the half…second time in SoCon play the Mocs have held an opponent to less than 20 points in the first 20 minutes…16 points were a season-low in the first half for ASU…could have been worse except for a three at the buzzer by the Mountaineer’s Farrahn Wood.

- Chattanooga led by 39 (61-22) with just under 12 minutes left when the Mocs reserves took over for the rest of the game.

- UTC committed a season-high 22 turnovers.  ASU’s 13 steals are the most by a Chattanooga opponent this season.  Chattanooga still held a 33-15 advantage in points off turnovers.

- The Mocs were a season-best 8-17 (47.1%) from behind the arc…eight threes are the second-most in a game this season.

- UTC tied a season-low by committing just nine fouls in the game.

- Appalachian State got over half of their points (22) off the bench.
