NCAA West Regional Notes

NCAA West Regional | May 8-10, 2014

- Chattanooga played in its seventh NCAA Regional in just seven years of the program’s existence…6th in a row qualifying as a team…1st trip to the West Regional competing in the East (2008, 2010, 2012-13) and Central (2009, 2011).

- The 17th-place finish is two ahead of the seed entering play of No. 19...the Mocs have ended up 8th (2009), 12th (2011), 18th (2010), and 19th (2012 & 2013).
- Chattanooga beat three top 50 teams in No. 42 Denver (3 shots), No. 50 Gonzaga (7) and No. 44 San Diego State (8).
- The one birdie in round one is a season low for the team...previous low was four in the first and final rounds of the Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup to open the season in September…Chattanooga recorded seven and five in the second and third rounds, respectively, on a stingy Tumble Creek tract.
- The par 3’s proved costly at +25…it’s a new season high passing +21 at 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate.
- The front nine is considered the significantly harder side at Tumble Creek…the Mocs actually managed it better shooting +39 on the front per the counting cards and +44 on holes 10-18…just four of the 13 birdies came on the first nine.
- Four special guests made appearances in Cle Elum as Emily McLennan’s mom Sue made the trip surprising her daughter from Australia…former Moc Maria Juliana Loza (2009-12) came up from Stanford where she is in graduate school in the School of Engineering…Porsche Campbell’s parents David and Natalie made shortest trip from Vancouver, Canada with a four-hour trek with 60 of those minutes coming at the border crossing Friday.
