CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Kentucky for the 11th annual Greater Louisville Classic hosted by the Louisville Sports Commission at the E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park Saturday morning.
The men will run in one of three races Saturday morning covering the 8-kilometer distance with the first race set to begin at 9:30 a.m. and alternate with the women's three 5K races throughout the morning.
Senior Nathan Wanuch (Mississauga, Ontario) will lead the Mocs onto the course. The two-time Southern Conference Runner of the Week won the title at the season opening PowerAde Invitational and followed that with a sixth place finish at the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic.
Sophomore Amanda Sumner (Bristol, Conn.) led the women's team to a top place finish at the PowerAde with teammates Kathryn Stuart (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Keeley Stewart (Winchester, Tenn.) following her across the finish line in the next two spots.
The location of the event, E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer State Park has been the site of five NAIA National Cross Country Championships, the 2007 and 2011 BIG EAST Conference Championships, the 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011 NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships.
The state park is home to the 2011 Pre-Nationals race as well as this year's NCAA Division I National Championships.
