CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s and women’s cross country teams will head to Veteran’s Park in Birmingham, Ala., for the Southern Conference Championships.

Senior Lucas Cotter (Collierville, Tenn.) earned all-conference second team honors despite missing the majority of the season with an injury. He was named all-conference as a sophomore and earned a spot on the men’s all-freshman team in 2010. His PR time of 24:20.56 was recorded at the 2011 Championships.

Sophomore Trevor Janssen (Jordan Station, Ontario) recorded his top time of 25:33.83 last season at the league championships where he finished 18th and was named the SoCon Freshman of the Year.

Senior Mark Cole (McKenzie, Tenn.), a member of the 2009 SoCon All-Freshman Team, returns to the lineup for his final season after missing the 2012 season with an injury. In 2011, he set a PR time of 24:57.93 at the conference championships. This year, Henderson is a two-time SoCon Runner of the Week and the league’s September Runner of the Month.

Senior Amanda Cotter (Bristol, Conn.) has fought injuries throughout the season having only completed one of her three races. She earned all-conference first team honors in 2012 at the league championships placing sixth overall.

Junior Rebecca Greenwall (Bogart, Ga.) has been the No. 2 runner for UTC this season and will run in her first SoCon Championship for Chattanooga but her second overall after transferring from Georgia Southern following her freshman year. She set an Eagle record in the 5k with a time of 17:59.6 at the conference championship. Junior Keeley Stewart (Winchester, Tenn.) will compete in her third league championships. In her first year, she struggled across the finish line while posting a PR time of 19:07.10 at the SoCon last season.

The Mocs have won four league titles and finished runner-up eight times including last year. The women have claimed top honors seven times with the last coming in 2008 while placing runner-up four times.

The championships will begin with the men’s 8-kilometer race at 10 a.m. with the women’s 5K to follow at 10:45. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony to honor top team and individual performances.
