CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s and women’s cross country teams will head to Tuscaloosa, Ala., Friday morning for the NCAA South Region Meet hosted by the University of Alabama at the Harry Pritchett Running Course.
The Mocs are ranked 11th in the region, up two spots from the previous week. Seniors Lucas Cotter (Collierville, Tenn.) and Mark Cole (McKenzie, Tenn.) earned all-conference honors at the Southern Conference Championships on November 2, leading UTC to a third place finish.
The women, led by sophomore Teghan Henderson (Pickering, Ontario) placed fifth at the SoCon championships. Henderson claimed the women’s overall title and was named the league Runner of the Year for her top place finish. She won every race in which she entered this season including both home meets and the conference championship.
The men will run a 10-kilometer course starting at 10 a.m. Central Time while the women will cover a six-kilometer distance beginning at 11:15 a.m. Results will be available at GoMocs.com as soon as it becomes available from the host site.
Teams from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee will be competing for a chance to advance to the NCAA National Championships. The top two teams automatically advance to the finals along with the top four individuals not on an advancing team.
