The Mocs opened the 2012 season with the 27th annual UTC PowerAde Invitational. Wanuch led the Mocs to a second place finish and claimed the individual title after outpacing MTSU's Robinson Simatei. The pair ran side-by-side through the first two miles before Wanuch pulled away on the last leg finishing with a time of 15:31.72, nearly 17 seconds ahead of the runner-up placer.

The Mocs return to the course Saturday morning at the Commodore Classic hosted by Vanderbilt at Nashville's Percy Warner Park. The men's Gold 8K race will begin at 10 a.m. EDT with the women's Gold running at 10:45 a.m.
