UTC faced some strong competition all day, but came away with one win in doubles play. Senior Jenna Nurik (Roswell, Ga.) and sophomore Kaylene Chadwell (Franklin, Tenn.) posted an 8-3 win over Louisville's Mandy Brown and Stefanie Villajuan in the first round. They lost to No. 5 seed Caitlin McGraw and Jessica Stiles of Kentucky (8-4).
Sophomore Claire Mulyadi (Semarang, Indonesia) and freshman Kayla Jones (Memphis, Tenn.) dropped their doubles match to top-seeded Brynn Boren and Kata Szekely (8-2) of Tennessee.
Nurik, Jones, Chadwell and junior Alexa Flynn (Memphis, Tenn.) all lost in the first round of singles play. They will compete in the consolation bracket on Saturday.
