SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga cross country runner Teghan Henderson (Pickering, Ontario) was named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week the league office announced Wednesday.
Henderson, a sophomore, carries a 3.8065 GPA. She won both home meets this year as well as the Georgia State meet in September. She was twice selected the SoCon cross country Runner of the Week and was named the Runner of the Month for September.
Henderson also took home the SoCon Women’s Runner of the Year award after finishing first at the SoCon Cross Country Championships on Saturday. She completed the 5K course in 17:05.84, finishing nearly 30 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Henderson bested her personal-best time by 1:14.25 and led the Lady Mocs to a fifth-place team finish. She won all four races she entered this season.
Chattanooga will head to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the 2013 NCAA South Region meet on Friday, November 15.
Also nominated were Appalachian State volleyball player Meghan Mahoney and Citadel soccer player Sadath Jean-Pierre.
