What is the UTC Mocs Club?

The Mocs Club is the annual fundraising arm for The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Athletics Department. Support from each UTC Mocs Club member benefits over 300 UTC student-athletes. Currently over 440 members commit themselves to help offset the rising educational costs for the UTC Athletics Department.

As the cost of education continue to rise, the need to offset scholarship expenses remain amongst our most pressing and critical annual needs. By joining the UTC Mocs Club, your membership gift – no matter what the size – will help provide UTC student-athlete’s with the resources needed for comprehensive excellence.

Through our mission we guide, encourage, and support our Student-Athletes in their quest for comprehensive excellence – academically, athletically, and socially. Above all else we prepare students for productive and meaningful lives. Our six core values include: Integrity, Respect, Positive Attitude, Premier Service, Accountability, and Continuous Improvement.

Annual Cash Gifts
Cash, checks, and credit card gifts are the most common ways of contributing and are always acceptable. All checks should be made payable to UTC Athletics with the memo line reading UTC Mocs Club. Gifts made to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga are tax-deductible as a charitable contribution. In most cases, the IRS has determined that gifts made to the UTC Mocs Club are 80% tax-deductible if the donor receives some benefit (in the form of priority seating benefits) in exchange for the donation. You may however, request or decline any or all benefits associated with UTC Mocs Club membership therefore your donation would be 100% tax-deductible.
The UTC Mocs Club accepts contributions via Visa and MasterCard and/or through an installment plan.

Matching Gifts
Many companies and organizations provide matching gift programs for employee benefits. Ask your Human Resources office about your employees matching gift program and watch grows to the UTC Mocs Club! Enclose the matching gift form from your Human Resources office along with your current Mocs Club contribution to increase your contribution and benefits level.
Important Note
If you plan on using your companies matching gift program toward your minimum required contribution, the matching gift must be received in full by December 31, 2009. Please be aware that matching gift programs require a considerable amount of time for processing and verification.

Gifts In Kind
A donation of goods replacing cash contributions can also be made to the UTC Mocs Club. In most cases, UTC Mocs Club donor benefits at the corresponding giving levels are extended in the exchange for the gifts-in-kind or pledge.
Important Note
All gifts-in-kind must be approved by the UTC Athletics Development office before UTC Mocs Club benefits can be awarded. These goods must be meaningful and provide budget relief to the UTC Department of Athletics.

Financial Assets: Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds
Gifts of appreciated securities can help you avoid capital gains taxes, while providing UTC Athletics with a generous gift.

Other Methods of Giving
Gifts to the UTC Mocs Club may also take other forms including real estate, personal property, and planned gifts (endowments, life insurance policy, bequests, trusts, annuities, and securities). Please contact the UTC Athletics Development office for further details and information.
