CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- Chattanooga women’s basketball coach Wes Moore announced the hiring of Amanda Eaton to the vacant assistant position on his staff late Tuesday afternoon.

“She has always impressed me as a player with her leadership qualities on the court,” Moore said. “Coming from a program headed by Lynne Agee, someone I respect as a coach, was a positive factor.”

Eaton, a former point guard for UNC Greensboro, was a starter for the Spartans from 2001-05. She spent the last year at Mars Hill College. She was previously a UNCG assistant before moving on to begin her coaching career at Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro.

Eaton’s main duties will be working with the Lady Mocs guards. With the departure of Laura Hall, Amy Mohr and Brooke Hand, Moore will have several newcomers on the floor next season who will need to contribute immediately. Eaton once held the UNCG 3-point career record with 169. She fills the position left vacant with the departure of Ashley McElhiney.

“For the last couple of years I’ve been around her while recruiting. I felt like her energy and passion would be positive on the court and in the recruiting process,” Moore said.
